Hamzah Sheeraz looks to complete his rapid rise through the super-middleweight division tonight when he takes on unbeaten German challenger Alem Begic for the vacant WBO world title beneath the Pyramids of Giza.
Sheeraz enters the bout as a huge favourite – even more so than Oleksandr Usyk in the main event against Rico Verhoeven – following his destructive win over Edgar Berlanga on his debut at 168lbs, a performance that further fuelled the belief he will become Britain’s next major star in the weight class.
Begic, meanwhile, arrives unbeaten in 30 professional bouts but has fought at nowhere near this level. The Munich-born southpaw may approach the fight with little pressure on his shoulders.
For Sheeraz, victory would cap a remarkable rise after moving up from middleweight earlier this year and potentially move him closer to a future showdown with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. Begic, however, believes he can derail those plans and pull off one of the upsets of the year.

Hamzah Sheeraz vs Alem Begic fight result
Sheeraz KO 2. Destruction from Sheeraz, who becomes the UK’s latest world champion with a second-round stoppage against an out-of-depth Begic. The domination in the first only intensified in round two, with Sheeraz landing hooks at will. If there were two or three more landed, both the referee and Begic’s team were likely to have a look, but Sheeraz landed a crisp left to the body and the German went down, unable to make the count.
