WITH stitched cuts by both eyes, his face marked and his voice heavy, Wladimir Klitschko, now the former heavyweight champion of the world , sat alongside new ruler Tyson Fury, a table length away from his old belts and spoke about the fight. He offered no complaints and no excuses.
But he does want the rematch.
“Today was a good night, not a good night for me to win this fight,” Klitschko said. “There will be more clean shots that I can land. I couldn’t find the right distance to land those shots. Tyson was quick with his hands and his body movement and his head movement. I couldn’t land the right punches. I congratulate him tonight. He won the fight and to be continued… How it will be continued, what it will look like, that will be set.”
There is a rematch clause in the contract that Klitschko will invoke, though no details at present on when or where Fury-Klitschko will take place.
“One more time,” Wladimir added to Fury, “congratulations.”
