On Saturday night, Moses Itauma goes up against Jermaine Franklin, and fellow heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has revealed his prediction for the bout having previously taken on both men.
Whyte fought Franklin back in 2022 in the headline attraction of a Wembley Arena card, scoring a controversial majority-decision victory over the then-undefeated Michigan-based contender, which many fans felt he was fortunate to get.
Almost three years later, in August 2025, Whyte was tasked with the heavyweight division’s hottest prospect in Itauma, being the second world title challenger that the youngster has faced in his short career.
However, despite their difference in experience, it took Itauma only one round to dispatch of his fellow Briton in Riyadh, in what was the first main-event fight of his career.
This weekend, Itauma headlines on British soil for the first time as collides with the durable Franklin, but Whyte told iFL TV that he is expecting another rapid stoppage victory for the highly-rated southpaw, believing that Itauma will halt Franklin early on.
“I think that Moses will get him out of there early, I think that he will stop him early.”
A victory for Itauma would see the 21-year-old move closer toward world title contention, with his next outing touted to be a clash agianst WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev.
The fight against Franklin tops a ‘Magnificent 7’ bill at the Co-op Live, with Willy Hutchinson tasked with Ezra Taylor in the standout attraction of the undercard, whilst Liam Davies challenges Francesco Grandelli for the vacant EBU European featherweight title.
