AFTER Shannon Briggs failed a drug test, the WBA have handed the muscle bound 45-year-old heavyweight a six month ban.

Briggs had been due to fight Fres Oquendo in June for a secondary WBA title. The WBA confirm that as part of their Fair Boxing programme, administered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, Briggs tested positive for anabolic agents, beta-2 agonist, metabolic modulators, GHRP, hormones and related substances.

Since he tested positive for prohibited substances the WBA have suspended Briggs for six months from the date of the finding.

It means his ban will be up by November 13 of this year.
