HEAVYWEIGHT champion Tyson Fury has reportedly failed a drug test, although his representatives have not been able to comment to Boxing News.

VADA, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, had been commissioned to carry out the drug testing for Tyson’s rematch with Wladimir Klitschko. VADA only said, “We do not release results publicly unless requested by the athlete.”

ESPN claims that Fury tested positive for cocaine earlier this month.

Tyson withdrew from the Klitschko fight, which had been scheduled for October 29, on September 23, due to a medical condition. His team stated then that he had been “declared medically unfit to fight. Medical specialists have advised that the condition is too severe to allow him to participate in the rematch and that he will require treatment before going back into the ring”.

The statement added that “Tyson is understandably devastated by the development.“

VADA noted that they only release “results to the athletes tested, the commissions, the Association of Boxing Commissions, the athletes’ designated representatives and the promoters.”
