Terence Crawford appears to be considering a return to the ring one year on from his retirement.

The pound-for-pound great from Omaha, Nebraska officially announced that he was hanging up his gloves last December.

Crawford’s decision followed an extremely impressive win over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to become a three-division undisputed champion, having held titles in five weight classes overall.

Canelo returned to the ring this past weekend in Saudi Arabia, winning back the WBC super-middleweight belt he lost that night. Despite the Mexican then calling on Crawford for a rematch, it is another man who has caught the attention of ‘Bud.’

Speaking on X, Crawford teased “one more” fight and reignited a war of words with WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia, calling him out for a middleweight bout.

“Maybe one more … What’s up Ryan Garcia, 160?”

Maybe one more!🙃

Crawford followed up to highlight Garcia’s claims that he will be fighting 49-year-old Floyd Matweather next – a match-up many believe will not happen despite both men saying it will.

“My bad, you got Mayweather to focus on I forgot.”

While it may be gamesmanship from Crawford, it is notable that he has been mostly consistent on his retirement status up until this point. Garcia will no doubt respond in the coming hours.

Garcia won the WBC belt at 147lbs – previously held by ‘Bud’ in 2023 – by beating Mario Barrios earlier this year.

His first defence with a second-round stoppage of Conor Benn, and he has since had talks with WBA champion Teofimo Lopez for a unification. More recently, the 28-year-old champion has revealed conversations to bring Floyd Mayweather out of retirement. Garcia seems set on fighting on February 6, regardless of the opponent.
