Shakur Stevenson could be close to finally having his return to the ring confirmed.

The American last fought in January when he defeated Teofimo Lopez to win the WBO super-lightweight title, becoming a four-division world champion in the process.

In July, it was announced that the 29-year-old has signed with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing, but it’s now approaching nine months since Stevenson was last in the ring.

He has been linked to fights against the likes of Gary Antuane Russell and O’Shaquie Foster, and it was recently reported that he could have even been set for a clash against Manny Pacquiao on the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua event in Cardiff on December 11.

That claim has since been denied, and Stevenson has now instead teased that another major fight he had previously been interested in could once again be coming to fruition, after mentioning Devin Haney’s name on social media.

Stevenson and Haney had discussed a possible 144-pound catchweight bout earlier this year, but the talks then went quiet and it looked as if the fight had fallen by the wayside.

The recent post from Stevenson, along with a social media post of his own from Haney, suggests it could now be back on the table, in a battle that would bring together two of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

Haney is the current WBO welterweight champion after defeating Brian Norman Jr last November, but he has also suffered from inactivity as of late, with that contest nearly 12 months ago serving as his most recent outing.
