Peter Fury has revealed whether he, like Ben Davison, will be in the opposite corner to Tyson Fury on December 11.
‘The Gypsy King’ joined forces with Davison ahead of his comeback in 2018, when he returned with a fourth-round finish over little-known heavyweight Sefer Seferi.
He would then box to a controversial draw against Deontay Wilder later that year, before parting ways with Davison and remaining with head coach SugarHill Steward since 2019.
It therefore came as a surprise that, despite his previous relationship with Fury, Davison has re-joined Anthony Joshua’s training team ahead of their showdown at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
The British coach had, of course, trained ‘AJ’ for victories over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou, before being removed from the picture following a fifth-round stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois.
Instead, Joshua decided to join Team Usyk but, now, he has added Davison to his camp and is seemingly training in Essex, while Oleksandr Usyk’s gym in Spain is currently occupied by Canelo Alvarez and Rafael Espinoza.
As for his reported relationship with Fury’s uncle, Peter has taken to social media and clarified that he last spoke to Joshua around two months ago.
“Me and AJ spoke two months ago about advice on his skill set – really nice guy.
After his fight, anything he needs from me [would] be a pleasure. He has a great team around him, including Team Usyk.
My focus now is Rico [Verhoeven], we start camp very soon.”

These days, Tyson and Peter appear to have a rather complicated relationship but, in 2015, the fighter-trainer duo most notably dethroned Wladimir Klitschko on away soil.
