Mike Tyson believes a current world champion has what it takes to remain unbeaten throughout his entire career.

Many boxing fans thought the same could have occurred when Tyson was in the early stages of his professional career, having risen through the ranks with 19 straight knockout victories, 12 of them inside the first round.

It led to ‘Iron Mike’ becoming the youngest boxer to ever be world heavyweight champion when he knocked out Trevor Berbick at the age of 20, before then going on to claim undisputed honours.

While he would eventually suffer his fair share of defeats as his career progressed, Tyson looked unbeatable for large portions of his time in the ring, and he feels current WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez also possesses those attributes.

Speaking to ESNews, Tyson said that he would back Benavidez to defeat any opponent that was ever put in front of him.

“I like him against everybody. He’s so underrated but so over-polarised here. Listen, I’d be afraid to fight him too if I was in that division. No one even has a chance against him, I’m talking facts.”

Benavidez currently has an unbeaten record of 30-0, 24 of those wins coming by knockout, having been a two-time super-middleweight world champion before stepping up a division and claiming world honours at 175lbs.

He has defeated Oleksandr Gvozdyk and David Morrell since moving to light heavyweight, and will look to extend his unbeaten record when he defends his WBC belt against Anthony Yarde in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 22.
