John Fury believes his brother, Peter, should be considered the “lowest form of human being” if it turns out that he has, in fact, been involved in the training of Anthony Joshua.
As he gears up for a long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, ‘AJ’ claims he has taken advice from his opponent’s uncle and ex-trainer.
Additionally, the 36-year-old is now back with former coach Ben Davison, who also previously trained Fury for five fights, including his first encounter with Deontay Wilder in 2018.
It is understood, too, that Joshua remains in communication with Team Usyk, despite not currently training at Oleksandr Usyk’s gym in Spain.
As for his supposed relationship with Peter Fury, the esteemed trainer has taken to social media and clarified that he last spoke with Joshua around two months ago.
Not only that, but Peter has refused any training involvement until after the British star’s showdown with Fury, who these days has a rather complicated relationship with his uncle.
‘The Gypsy King’s’ father John, meanwhile, has told Playbook Boxing that Peter would drop even further in his estimation if he attempts to betray his own nephew.
“If he was to do that in any way, shape or form, that would make him the lowest form of human being, wouldn’t it?
“I don’t talk to the man; I’ll never speak to him as long as [I] live. He knows why – it’s only me and him who know why. But that’s not for the public; it’s for me and him.
“But listen to this: if you’re going to be sly – making phone calls to Anthony Joshua, having secret training sessions with him – that puts you in the cockroach department.
“I’m not saying he is doing that but, if he is, he’s a f**ked up individual.”
While distancing himself from Joshua’s training team, Peter also revealed that he is focused on the return of Rico Verhoeven, who comes off an 11th-round stoppage defeat to Oleksandr Usyk and will likely be soon presented with another big opportunity in the heavyweight ranks as a result.
