JARRELL Miller will have more than a ‘diss song’ on his mind ahead of his showdown with Fabio Wardley on June 7.
The pair came inches away from an all-out brawl at last week’s press conference, where Miller, 26-1-2 (22 KOs), following an emotional outburst, gave his heavyweight rival a delicate slap.
‘Big Baby’ threw his toys out the pram after hearing a supposed ‘diss song’ – titled ‘Big Baby Killer’ – that still, to this day, remains a mystery for Wardley, 18-0-1 (17 KOs).
Nevertheless, Miller’s unsavoury behaviour at Portman Road, where the pair will square off in June, has led to a stern response from the British Boxing Board of Control.
In a letter sent on Thursday to Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren, the promoter of this event, BBBofC General Secretary Robert Smith said:
“Please advise Mr. Miller’s team that his future conduct is being monitored and any repeat of his behaviour at the press conference on 7th April 2025 in Ipswich may result in permission to box in the UK not being granted and disciplinary action and a fine is a possibility.
“Therefore, it has been considered that a percentage of Mr. Miller’s purse is lodged with the Board prior to the bout, of which I will advise accordingly.”
While revealing the letter via an Instagram post, Miller also branded boxing as a ‘dirty’ game and claimed, in his words, that he ain’t paying s***.
The BBBofC’s decision to withhold a percentage of 36-year-old’s purse, meanwhile, follows a harsh £100,000 fine received by Chris Eubank Jr last month.
Both financial penalties will, in turn, bolster the funds of a registered charity, run by the Board, which supports retired boxers and their families.
But while Miller seemingly refuses to give up a portion of his purse, it could be said that, with the American having previously tested positive for multiple performance-enhancing substances, the ice beneath his feet is only getting thinner.
And yet, either way, Wardley will enjoy a home advantage at the home of Ipswich Town if they do, indeed, square off for the WBA ‘regular’ title in June.
