Tyson Fury has revealed who he would back to come out on top between the prime versions of Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali.
Tyson and Ali are viewed as two of the greatest heavyweights in boxing history, with each of them ruling the division during separate eras.
‘Iron Mike’ still holds the honour of being the youngest world heavyweight champion of all time, having claimed world honours at the age of just 20, before going on to become undisputed.
His ferocious power is what once earned Tyson the moniker of ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’, with 44 of his 50 victories coming by knockout, stopping fighters such as Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Frank Bruno over the years.
Ali’s nickname also says plenty about his skillset, having been referred to as ‘The Greatest’ after a career which saw him become a three-time world heavyweight champion.
He was involved in some of the most memorable fights ever, defeating George Foreman in the ‘Rumble In The Jungle’ and Joe Frazier in the ‘Thrilla In Manila’, as Ali hung up the gloves with 56 wins from his 61 professional contests.
With all of that in mind, when asked by Daily Mail Boxing who would be victorious in a fantasy match-up between Tyson and Ali, Fury decided to side with Ali.
Fury himself has a chance to match Ali in becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion when he is scheduled to collide with long-term rival Anthony Joshua in Cardiff in December, with the WBA belt set to be on the line for that bout.
