Carl Froch has had a change of heart when it comes to a former world champion.

Froch was a multiple-time world champion in his own right, claiming gold at super-middleweight on several occasions after earning victories over the likes of Lucian Bute, Jean Pascal and Arthur Abraham.

He also defended his world title against fighters such as George Groves and Jermain Taylor, but did suffer two defeats during his career, one coming against Mikkel Kessler, and the other to Andre Ward.

The bad blood between Froch and Ward never appeared to go away, with the pair seemingly remaining bitter rivals long after the American earned a unanimous decision victory in the final of the Super Six World Boxing Classic back in 2011.

Froch has made comments calling the American boring to watch, but now nearly 15 years on, they have come face-to-face again during an interview on Froch On Fighting, and ‘The Cobra’ decided to apologise to his former opponent on what he has said previously.

“You beat me fair and square. In a fight that wasn’t close. Two of the judges had it 115-113, were they drunk? That made it worse for me because I thought ‘one round I could have got a draw.’ I’d rather it be 120-108. I’m man enough to admit I got beat fair and square by the better man, Hall of Famer, absolute legend. So apologies, sorry for chatting s**t. I’d get asked about you and I’d say you were a bit of a boring fighter, not nice to watch, not easy on the eye blah, blah, blah, but all I need to do is say I got beat by the better man. Iron sharpens iron.”

Ward would retire from the sport in 2017 with a perfect 32-0 record, but has recently teased a shock return to the ring at the age of 41.
