Derek Chisora has faced a who’s who of heavyweights over his two decades in the sport, and recently named the man who hit him hardest.
Chisora made his professional debut back in 2007 and moved 14 fights undefeated before losing to Tyson Fury in a British title fight.
Consecutive defeats to Robert Helenius, Vitali Klitschko and David Haye – and a later defeat to Fury in their rematch – threatened to end his days at the top level, but a resurgence in 2018 with a stunning stoppage old Carlos Takam earned ‘Del Boy’ more big nights under the lights.
That win set up a rematch with Dillian Whyte following a close loss in their first encounter. Whyte would end the second meeting via devastating left hook, putting Chisora flat out on his back. It’s a shot that he remembers to this day, telling Jack Figg that he has to name Whyte as the hardest puncher he faced because of it, even despite facing American KO artist Deontay Wilder in his latest fight.
Whyte has 21 knockouts from 31 wins. He bounced back from an early career defeat to Anthony Joshua to climb the way up the WBC rankings, securing his number one contender position with by avenging a KO defeat to Alexander Povetkin. His world title shot came against Fury, but ended inside six rounds.
Since then, Whyte has struggled to reach the top again, most recently losing to rising star Moses Itauma in one round. He has said he is open to a trilogy with Chisora before both men hang up the gloves.
