Floyd Mayweather will fight on September 12 but it might not be pay-per-view

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has taken to social media to confirm he is still fighting on September 12 with an opponent yet to be announced amid reports he may fight on CBS rather than Showtime pay per view in the US.

The pound-for-pound king smashed pay-per-view records in his May fight with Manny Pacquiao, but is reportedly considering airing his final fight on CBS, who own Showtime, the broadcaster he has an exclusive deal with.

Yet to announce his opponent for September 12, there was speculation the 38-year-old may not fight at all on the date and would instead hang up the gloves for good.

In a Facebook post, he wrote: “To My fans, your loyalty and support has given me the best 20 years I could ask for and while at the top, I plan to go out on top….see you back in the ring September 12th!”

Mayweather has previously mentioned Karim Mayfield and Andre Berto as potential opponents, with the likes of Amir Khan and Gennady Golovkin clamouring for the opportunity.

If he were to fight on CBS, it would be the first time in 10 years he would not have fought on PPV in the US.
