DEVIN HANEY is targeting a fight against Regis Prograis in his bid to take over the super-lightweight division.

The 24-year-old has cleaned up at lightweight and following his win over Vasiliy Lomachenko last month hinted that his time at 135lbs may be up.

“No weight cut for me at 135 is easy. It takes a lot of discipline. I’m huge for the weight,” he said in the post-fight press conference.

Eddie Hearn, who promotes Prograis, and used to promote Haney, told The DAZN Boxing Show that his former fighter has already been in contact about the matchup.

“He called me he the other night. We had a great conversation. He wants to fight Regis Prograis. It’s a tremendous fight.

“He wants to move up to 140. He wants a belt. I said to him he’s got to be a little bit careful because part of his value right now is that he’s Undisputed so when he moves up a division that’s the risk that he’s taking from there. But he has identified Regis Prograis as the fight that he wants. I think it’s an unbelievable fight. Regis loves the fight.

“Obviously he’s got [Danielito] Zorrilla first on June 17. He’s got to smash him to pieces, and he’s got to shout out Devin Haney. We’ve got to get them guys together. We’ve got to get the right number for both guys and I believe we can make that happen.”

One of Hearn’s other ten stone contenders Jack Catterall is also hoping to land a fight against Prograis this year. ‘El Gato’ returned on Saturday night in Manchester following a 15-month absence from the ring and posted his 27th win from 28 contests against Darragh Foley.

The super-lightweight division takes centre stage on June 10 when Josh Taylor faces Teofimo Lopez at the Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York City.
