WHILE Jamie Munguia benefited from a majority decision, with two judges scoring 116-112 and 115-113 to him, the third having it level at 114-114, his challenger for the WBO super-welterweight title Dennis Hogan was outraged at the results.

Speaking immediately after their bout at the Arena Monterrey in Mexico, Munguia’s homeland, Hogan declared, “I knew I won the fight. It’s so disappointing to train as hard as I did for this to happen. We came here in good faith… Apart from the people that scored it allowed this decision to go through, everybody knows. This is bad for boxing. Bad for me.”

“I knew in his eyes he knew he was losing. At times he was acting desperate,” said the Australia based Irishman. “I just knew I could take the shots, I was landing more than him.

“You’ll see I was well winning that fight.”

“I’ll get back and I’ll come back again and I’ll win the title,” he concluded. “They just tried to take my family’s future away and I’ll f****** fight hard to get it back again.”

Munguia felt it was a close fight and said he had to go all out for victory in the last round. He reflected, “I learned a bit about getting frustrated in this fight and that was one of the problems.”

The Mexican thinks making 154lbs could be a problem and he is now considering move up to middleweight. “We have to talk about this with my promoter and see what happens,” he said.
