The proposed Mike Tyson vs Floyd Mayweather exhibition was previously announced for April 25.
Tyson last appeared in the ring in November 2024, when he made a controversial professional comeback and lost to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in one of the most talked-about events of recent years.
Despite saying he would not fight again, ‘Iron Mike’ then announced another return – an exhibition bout with Mayweather, who has also said he will face Mike Zambidis and Manny Pacquiao this year.
It was initially reported that Mayweather-Tyson would take place this month in the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, with no further promotion, that now will not be the case.
Despite the confusion, Tyson’s advisor Amer Abdallah has told Boxing News he believes the fight will still go ahead.
“There is a contract in place. Details will come out soon. But I believe the fight will happen.”
Pacquiao’s team have since said that binding contracts are in place for it to be a pro contest, and that Mayweather must follow through with the original plans.
The Filipino’s team also took issue with Mayweather announcing a June exhibition with Zambidis, but have not yet commented on the Tyson bout.
