Former two-weight world champion Billy Joe Saunders has offered his thoughts on a mooted clash between Chris Eubank Jr and Kell Brook.
There has been mounting speculation since Brook, a former world champion himself, announced earlier this month that he will make a comeback to professional boxing.
The 40-year-old has not fought since 2022, back when he scored a sixth-round finish over Amir Khan in their long-overdue welterweight encounter.
Now, though, Brook has insisted that he will be campaigning at either middle or super-middleweight, where Eubank is expected to compete in his next outing.
The 36-year-old has not fought since last November, when he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Conor Benn after winning their first encounter by the same verdict.
With both contests being fought at 160lbs, though, Eubank was clearly drained on the scales and has since been linked with super-middleweight fights against the likes of Edgar Berlanga and Michael Zerafa.
Equally, the Brightonian could end up facing Brook later this year, with Saunders telling talkSPORT that he would favour the Sheffield technician.
“I’ve gotta be realistic and put myself amongst the people that you look at and think, ‘They’ve got a bit of an age’. [Like] Chris Eubank. They’re not any good, [or] they’re not technically [good].
“I think Kell Brook beats him.”
Given his rivalry with Eubank, and the fact he used to train with Brook, it is hardly surprising that Saunders has backed his former gymmate.
Additionally, the 36-year-old has expressed his interest in a potential rematch with Eubank, who he outpointed by split decision in 2014.
