Idris Virgo

When and why you started boxing:
I started boxing when I was 15 years old. I was hit over the head with a wooden stick, so I needed to learn self-defence. I did kickboxing at first and then progressed to boxing.

Favourite all-time fighter:
Aside from myself, itโ€™d have to be Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson.

Best fight youโ€™ve seen:
The first fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin stands out for me. It was the best meeting the best.

Personal career highlight:
My highlight so far is my first fight with Hennessy Sports [in August last year]. I won with a sick body-shot KO [in the opening round against Josh Hodgins].

Toughest opponent:
I learnt plenty by sparring with Billy Joe Saunders. Heโ€™s the toughest opponent that Iโ€™ve shared a ring with.

My best attributes are that Iโ€™m confident, cocky, arrogant and good looking. I havenโ€™t got any bad attributes!

Hard work will always win.

My favourite meals? Iโ€™ve got three actually โ€“ macaroni and cheese, steak, and fish and chips.

Best friends in boxing:
The fans are my best friends in the sport.

Other sportsperson you would like to be:
Iโ€™d be Lewis Hamilton because heโ€™s absolutely fearless.

Last film/TV show you saw:
The last show that I watched was Suits.

Who would play you in a film of your life:
Iโ€™d pick Michael B. Jordan to play me. Iโ€™d love to be in Creed III with him.

Iโ€™ve never been starstruck.

Last time you cried:
I canโ€™t remember the last time that I cried to be honest.

Best advice received:
Always be yourself.

There are no rumours โ€“ only facts.
