Frank Warren explains what Daniel Dubois must do to exploit Oleksandr Usyk’s weaknesses

PROMOTER Frank Warren has revealed what Daniel Dubois must do if he is to overcome Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch on 19 July.

Almost two years on from their initial encounter, Usyk and Dubois will meet under the Wembley arch for the undisputed heavyweight title. Dubois is out for revenge following a controversial moment during their first encounter, which the Brit’s team feel robbed their man of glory.

Dubois’ first world title challenge took him to Wroclaw, Poland and into a lion’s den at the Stadion Wroclaw. Ukrainian supporters were out in force to cheer on their countryman Usyk, who held three of the four world titles. The challenger almost ruined the celebrations after a punch, ruled a low blow by referee Luis Pabon, floored Usyk, who needed nearly four minutes to recover. Unfortunately for Dubois, his opponent recovered and scored a stoppage win in the ninth round to retain the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.

While maintaining that he was robbed of a legendary knockout win, ‘Triple D’ has since strung together three wins inside the distance and become a worthy heavyweight champion in his own right – halting Anthony Joshua in a dramatic title defence in September in his lone defence of the IBF strap.
