What is your early prediction for the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Teofimo Lopez fight on October 17?

Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Teofimo Lopez

Hannah Rankin
Middleweight contender

Iโ€™m really excited about the fight, and one I canโ€™t wait to watch. Iโ€™m going with Lomachenko to score a late stoppage due to his amazing ring IQ. I believe that he really wants to put on a performance and make an example out of Lopez.

Iโ€™ve always felt Lomachenko would win this. Heโ€™s out of his comfort zone at lightweight which is why we havenโ€™t seen anyone quitting against him at this weight. So thereโ€™s a big risk against Lopez but I think you will see a more cautious performance from Lomachenko this time and heโ€™ll win on points.

My feeling is that Lomachenko is just too technically superior, although I do still worry about his old shoulder injury. Letโ€™s hope that like when Azumah Nelson challenged and pushed the late, great Salvador Sanchez, that Lopez shows everyone that heโ€™s a future star, even if his best isnโ€™t quite good enough here.

Unless Lomachenko has aged overnight then I think heโ€™s just too good for Lopez at this stage. Lopez and can bring the huff and the puff and try and catch Lomachenko. But itโ€™s been a long time since Lomachenko was dragged into the kind of fight he might lose. He really is the matrix.
