PAVEL Sosulin will face Lucas Bastida over 10 rounds today in the Wrestling Palace, Ufa. The IBA PRO show is due to start around 1.20pm (BST), as the pair contest the vacant WBA Gold super-welterweight title.
Currently 10-0 as a pro, with five KOs, Sosulin was last seen knocking out 12-0 Carlo Bacaro in a battle of the prospects in Armenia. Now he returns home to Russia to accommodate Bastida, 22-3-1 (13 KOs). one year younger at 27, also arriving with a win over an unbeaten prospect. In October 2024, Bastida travelled to Latvia to drop and stop Ukrainian Bohdan Sobol in round eight.
Also on the card in Ufa (the largest city in the region of Bashkortostan) is Artur Subkhankulov, 8-0 (4 KOs), a 33-year-old southpaw who takes on Australia’s Ibrahim Balla in a battle of veteran super-featherweights. Balla has lost two out of 19 and has been stopped both times. His last two wins have come against unbeaten fighters, however.
That fight is scheduled for 10 rounds. In a welterweight eight-rounder, Danis Gabdrafikov takes on Alexander Khokhlov. This is the second Boxing News stream from Russia across the next three days. Cuban cruiserweight prospect Lenar Perez boxes on Sunday.
