THE World Boxing Council and Oscar De La Hoya are the latest heavy hitters to support any matchup between boxing superpowers, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.

“The fight the world has been waiting to see, the fight that the world wants to see,” a statement from the WBC began. “The WBC fully supports the promotion of this fight which will certainly break all existing records in many areas. The WBC has been supportive and has provided all flexibility for the fight to take place and hereby confirms that we will continue to do so. Manny Pacquiao was ranked # 1 mandatory challenger when he returned after his loss to Marquez, unfortunately a different path was taken, today there is another opportunity for this fight to happen.

“We encourage all parties to sit down and make it happen, just as the Lenox Lewis vs Mike Tyson fight, which seemed impossible to be put together, they all sat down and made it happen. That fight was aired PPV by all platforms From Showtime and HBO.”

Top Rank’s Bob Arum has repeatedly voiced his desire to make the fight for Pacquiao and this week, Golden Boy head De La Hoya indicated – on Twitter – he too would do whatever is required to make that fight:

“I’m prepared to put up the biggest guarantee in sports history, to give the fans #TheFight @MannyPacquiao @FloydMayweather
