5. Deontay Wilder

“The Bronze Bomber” may not be the most fearsome looking champion, but his flamboyance and near-perfect knockout ratio will raise your heart rate. His long reach and power make it seem almost inevitable that a knockout will be the outcome… leaving unattractive odds for anyone taking him on.

4. Wladimir Klitschko

Reigning supreme over the heavyweight division for the last decade, Wladimir Klitschko is an unsettling character due to his sophistication, he’s compiled a PHD, is fluent in four languages, all reflecting the calculating boxing ability of “Dr. Steelhammer”.

3. Anthony Joshua

The 2012 Olympic super-heavyweight champion for GB may seem to have a sunny disposition outside of the ring. But his six foot six stature, chiselled physique, 100% knockout ratio and aggressive style make him a frightening choice to confront.

2. Gennady Golovkin

Achieving his place as the most devastating puncher in middleweight history [Golovkin has the division’s best knockout ratio], speaks for itself. His reputation often seems to assure him of victory before he enters the ring. For many “GGG” is the most feared man in boxing. But here he only makes second place.

1. Sergey Kovalev

A man who spreads terror due to his crushing style (hence the nickname Krusher), making him a monster in the squared circle. His devastating power and destructive intent has sent a ripple of fear through both light-heavyweight and neighbouring divisions. Looks like we’ll have to wait until 2016 though for Kovalev to return to the ring.
