SHAKAN PITTERS will face a new opponent for the European light heavyweight title on Friday night.
The 35-year-old had been scheduled to challenge champion Daniel Blenda Dos Santos in the main event on the GBM Sports card at Sheffieldโs Park Community Arena. However, it was announced today (Wednesday) by the European Boxing Union (EBU) that, โDue to serious medical conditions Daniel Blenda Dos Santos is not authorised to fight until further notice.
โFor this reason, being us at two days from the execution date, we exceptionally accepted the proposal of the staging promoter – GBM Mr Gostolo – to replace Daniel Blenda Dos Santos with Lee Ingelrest, who is ready and accepted to fight Shakan Pitters for such a vacant title on 7th
February next in Sheffield.โ

Ingelrest, 25, is yet to fight over the 12-round distance and has fought just once over 10 rounds. His 13-fight record consists of a dozen wins and one draw which came against Oleksandr Frolov in September 2023 over eight rounds.
Little is known about the Belgian and while that can sometimes prove to be a banana skin Pitters, 19-2 (6 KOs), may never get a better shot to win add the European title to the British he won in 2020.
