Serhii Bohachuk calls out Sebastian Fundora following Errol Spence fallout

FEROCIOUS puncher Serhii Bohachuk has put himself in the shop window to face unified super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora.

WBC and WBO titlist Fundora, 21-1-1 (13 KOs), was set to lock horns with former welterweight king Errol Spence Jr, 28-1 (22 KOs), in March.

However, it was reported earlier this week that their showdown has now been scuppered, with Spence claiming on social media that he will return when he is ready.

Fundora claimed his two straps at 154 lbs following an enthralling battle with Tim Tszyu, edging a fiercely contested split decision last year.

Before that, the 27-year-old suffered a stunning seventh-round stoppage defeat to Brian Mendoza, but has now seemingly rectified his defensive frailties.

In any case, with ‘The Towering Inferno’ on the hunt for a new opponent, there are several contenders that could be presented with a golden opportunity.

Unbeaten American Charles Conwell, for instance, has been mentioned by ESPN boxing journalist Mike Coppinger as a possible opponent for Fundora.

But since then, Bohachuk, 25-2 (24 KOs), has added his name to the mix, representing a stern test for the rangy southpaw.

“Sebastian let’s fight in [Los Angeles],” the Ukrainian wrote on X earlier today.

Bohachuk comes off a dominant sixth-round stoppage victory over Ishmael Davis, who stepped in on short notice after former world champion Israil Madrimov pulled out due to an illness.

In another scintillating performance last year, the 29-year-old floored unbeaten contender Vergil Ortiz Jr twice before losing a highly contentious majority decision.

And so, it must be said that both Bohachuk and Conwell would make for intriguing matchups as we wait for an announcement on Fundora’s next outing.
