SANDY RYAN has signed with professional promotions Matchroom Sport.
The talented Commonwealth Games champion and World silver medallist will be looking to compete in the exciting super-lightweight and welterweight divisions. โItโs been a while but Iโm really excited. I canโt wait,โ Ryan told Boxing News. โIโm blessed Iโm very happy and excited.โ
โTo have them as my promoter Iโm so excited for the future,โ she continued. โJust to show the world my ability and what Iโm capable of doing, they can provide the platform to do that.
โI canโt wait. The skills that Iโm bringing to the table, thereโs only a few that are bringing that and theyโre the top female fighters in the pro ranks at the minute. So Iโm so excited to show everyone what Iโm capable of.
โIโve been across the world for GB, gaining all the experience. Iโve boxed all different styles, all different countries. Iโve been in there with them all I would say.โ
She had hoped to be competing at the Olympic Games at the end of July. But a restructure of the qualification system, forced by coronavirus, saw the World qualification event called off, ending Ryanโs Tokyo hopes at the stroke of a pen. Instead at that time Sandy will be making her professional debut.
โIโm not going to lie, it knocked me back. Iโve been on GB for nine years now, been to every major tournament that you can name and just wanted to top it off with the Olympics. Iโve just got to turn the negative into a positive and thatโs the way I look at it,โ she said. โIโve got a great team behind me and I believe Iโve got a big future. Turn the negative into a positive.โ
โI know I can move fast,โ she concluded. โI want to show everyone what Iโm capable of and enjoy each fight and then move on to world titles. But theyโre coming. Theyโre coming.โ
