SANDY RYAN has signed with professional promotions Matchroom Sport.

The talented Commonwealth Games champion and World silver medallist will be looking to compete in the exciting super-lightweight and welterweight divisions. โ€œItโ€™s been a while but Iโ€™m really excited. I canโ€™t wait,โ€ Ryan told Boxing News. โ€œIโ€™m blessed Iโ€™m very happy and excited.โ€

โ€œTo have them as my promoter Iโ€™m so excited for the future,โ€ she continued. โ€œJust to show the world my ability and what Iโ€™m capable of doing, they can provide the platform to do that.

โ€œI canโ€™t wait. The skills that Iโ€™m bringing to the table, thereโ€™s only a few that are bringing that and theyโ€™re the top female fighters in the pro ranks at the minute. So Iโ€™m so excited to show everyone what Iโ€™m capable of.

โ€œIโ€™ve been across the world for GB, gaining all the experience. Iโ€™ve boxed all different styles, all different countries. Iโ€™ve been in there with them all I would say.โ€

She had hoped to be competing at the Olympic Games at the end of July. But a restructure of the qualification system, forced by coronavirus, saw the World qualification event called off, ending Ryanโ€™s Tokyo hopes at the stroke of a pen. Instead at that time Sandy will be making her professional debut.

โ€œIโ€™m not going to lie, it knocked me back. Iโ€™ve been on GB for nine years now, been to every major tournament that you can name and just wanted to top it off with the Olympics. Iโ€™ve just got to turn the negative into a positive and thatโ€™s the way I look at it,โ€ she said. โ€œIโ€™ve got a great team behind me and I believe Iโ€™ve got a big future. Turn the negative into a positive.โ€

โ€œI know I can move fast,โ€ she concluded. โ€œI want to show everyone what Iโ€™m capable of and enjoy each fight and then move on to world titles. But theyโ€™re coming. Theyโ€™re coming.โ€
