PAT BROWN is set to make his American debut as the unbeaten British cruiserweight continues his rise through the professional ranks.
The popular Mancunian, who turns 26 on November 11, will face Dominican opponent Felix Valera, 24-8 (21 KOs), on Saturday night at the Caribe Royale in Orlando — his first fight outside the UK.
Brown signed with Matchroom Boxing last November, shortly after representing Great Britain at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Promoter Eddie Hearn told Boxing News at the time that Brown was an “arena filler” and a “future superstar”, and now American audiences will get their first look at the 6ft 3ins heavy-handed prospect.
Trained by Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis, Brown has boxed just nine rounds across his four professional outings so far — two six-rounders and two eight-rounders — ending all four in emphatic fashion.
In his fifth appearance, the Manchester native steps up to a scheduled 10-rounder against Valera, 37, who will aim to become the first fighter to take Brown past the fourth round.
Valera (1-1 in 2025) defeated Angel Yomar Mateo Arias in April but dropped a decision to former U.S. amateur champion Tristan Kalkreuth in July. During his prime, the experienced Dominican challenged Dmitry Bivol for the WBA Interim light-heavyweight title in 2016, going the distance despite two knockdowns. He has also shared the ring with the likes of Sullivan Barrera, Maxim Vlasov, Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, Aleksi Papin and Michal Cieslak.
Brown vs. Valera forms part of Matchroom’s seven-fight bill headlined by Lenier Pero vs. Jordan Thompson. The 32-year-old Thompson returns after two years out following his fourth-round defeat to IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia.
Despite the step up to ten rounds, Brown will be expected to make a statement in his Stateside debut.
