1. TYSON FURY
It’s hard to think of a bigger fight than Anthony Joshua-Wladimir Klitschko, but Tyson Fury could well top it. Fury has also beaten Klitschko, he has been calling out Joshua and must want to reclaim his place at the top of the heavyweight division. There are hurdles to overcome, Fury’s issues have kept him out of the sport. He still needs to get through a hearing and has a long way to go to get himself back in fighting shape.
2. DEONTAY WILDER
The brash outspoken American would love to be fighting in events of the magnitude of Britain’s now unified WBA and IBF champion. Wilder holds the WBC heavyweight crown so this would be a major unification fight and the build up would be gripping. Wilder’s best asset is his power so surely this clash would be exciting and also an opportunity to further unify the division (if other sanctioning bodies are amenable).
3. WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO
The Ukrainian has the option of triggering a rematch. This was such a tremendous fight in which, despite his ultimate defeat, Klitschko proved he is a fighter of real class. Wladimir might want to argue that he let Joshua off the hook in the sixth round and a rematch would undoubtedly drum up interest.
4. JOSEPH PARKER
Anthony Joshua is the number one in the heavyweight division. But he could still bring some clarity to the sport if he continues to unify the titles. Parker hold the WBO belt and would clearly be interested in fighting Joshua and the substantial payday it brings. An offensively minded fighter himself, this ought to be explosive.
5. HUGHIE FURY
The younger Fury, Tyson’s cousin, had bagged himself a world title shot against Joseph Parker. But he was unable to fulfil that May 6 date, pulling out injured a couple of weeks before the fight. He doesn’t appear to have the same physical power as Joshua and is untested though skilful. However Joshua versus Fury is enough to draw anyone’s attention.
