9. Riddick Bowe

Former heavyweight champion could have been the best of his era. But heavy weight gaining between fights worsened his skills.

8. Matt Korobov

The former amateur standout had to skillset to be a dominate middleweight. But the 33-year-old got stopped by Andy Lee in his only world title challenge.

7. Nassem Hamed

Hamed could have been one of the best ever. But after losing to Marco Antonio Barrera the world never saw the same prince again.

6. Odlanier Solis

Arguably the most naturally gifted heavyweight in the division. But lack of dedication and back-to-back losses to Tony Thompson signalled the end for the talented Cuban.

5. Mohammad Abdullaev

Former 2000 Olympic gold medallist struggled when he turned pro, losing to Miguel Cotto, Andreas Kotelnik and Emmanuel Clottery.

4. Guillermo Rigondeaux

One of the best amateurs ever, Rigondeaux is so good that no one wants to take the risk. With his style being unattractive plus long spells of inactivity, Rigondeaux may just fade into the distance.

3. Meldrick Taylor

Taylor looked like a multiple world champion in waiting. But after his physically draining and damaging first fight with Julio Cesar Chavez, Taylor’s talent diminished.

2. Yuriorkis Gamboa

Another Cuban on the list. The 34-year-old has seen his remarkable talents diminish through long spells of inactivity.

1. Edwin Valero

27 knockouts from as many fights without a loss, Valero’s talents were unquestioned. The former two weight world champion looked destined to go down in history, but inner demons got the better of him.
