The best same name match-ups to be made in boxing
  1. DANNY GARCIA vs MIKEY GARCIA
Currently ranked at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively in the Boxing News welterweight ratings, a clash between Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia would be a fascinating one, as both are former multi-division world titlists.
  2. CALLUM SMITH vs JOE SMITH JNR
WBA super-middleweight champion Callum Smith has spoken in the past about moving up to light-heavyweight. A fight with top 175lb contender Joe Smith Jnr would be well received by fans.
  3. JULIAN WILLIAMS vs LIAM WILLIAMS
Ex-unified super-welterweight champ Julian Williams against in-form middleweight Liam Williams is a bout that could take place at either 154lbs or 160lbs.
  4. ROBEISY RAMIREZ vs EDUARDO RAMIREZ
After a shock defeat on his pro debut, double Olympic gold medallist Robeisy Ramirez has won his subsequent five outings. BN’s No. 10 featherweight Eduardo Ramirez would provide a stern examination of his credentials.
  5. JULIO CESAR MARTINEZ vs FERNANDO MARTINEZ
There has been talk of WBC flyweight ruler Julio Cesar Martinez stepping up to super-flyweight in the not-too-distant future. BN’s No. 7 at that weight is Fernando Martinez.
  6. JOSEPH DIAZ vs CHRISTOPHER DIAZ
Although he is fighting at featherweight at the moment, Christopher Diaz has previously challenged for world honours at super-featherweight. He could have a second try by facing reigning IBF 130lb king Joseph Diaz.
  7. CANELO ALVAREZ vs ELEIDER ALVAREZ
He may have been stopped last time out, but Eleider Alvarez is still a former WBO light-heavyweight boss. Pound-for-pound supremo Canelo Alvarez vacated the very same belt at the end of 2019.
  8. OHARA DAVIES vs ROBBIE DAVIES JNR
While Robbie Davies Jnr has held British, Commonwealth and European straps, fellow super-lightweight Ohara Davies has yet to do so. It would be a well-matched domestic duel.
  9. MAXI HUGHES vs JOE HUGHES
The in-form Maxi Hughes has scored a couple of big wins at lightweight this year, while Joe Hughes is an ex-European title-holder at super-lightweight. These two could collide at 140lbs.
  10. FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ JNR vs JONATHAN JAVIER RODRIGUEZ
Former unified strawweight titlist Francisco Rodriguez Jnr and Jonathan Javier Rodriguez both have designs on becoming world champions at super-flyweight.
