Panel: Whyte vs Povetkin II – will it be repeat or revenge?

Sunny Edwards
British champion

Whyte was in control before the knockout, but Povetkin showed again how dangerous he can be at any point in the fight. I expect Whyte to come through – but he can’t afford to switch off again.

Richard Poxon
Boxing manager
Rematches often go the same way as the first. There are few heavyweights smarter that Alexander Povetkin. He only needs to set up that one shot, as he demonstrated before. I expect the same to happen again. The only caveat to that is his brush with Covid.

Alex Steedman
Podcast host & commentator

Povetkin is still the better fighter and could produce that technical moment. But time is against him. A patient approach can reap dividends later for Whyte.

Chris McKenna
Sports journalist

I believe it will be revenge. Povetkin looked old in the first fight and, although he caught Whyte with a punch that was perfectly planned, he is way past his best and has now had a spell in hospital with Covid-19. I think Whyte will stop him late on but he has a long way to go to be in the world title mix.
