Panel: How would Joe Joyce fare against the best heavyweights in the world?

Wayne Alexander (Former European super-welterweight champion)

Joe Joyce is very much in the mix right now with all the world’s best heavyweights. I believe that he fears none of them and would fight for the title now if he could. His natural strength, power and fitness is better than most and, with the world-class amateur experience he has, I would personally put him in my top three heavyweights, just above Deontay Wilder. I doubt any of the champions would take him on as a voluntary defence – he is too dangerous. He’ll most likely have to wait until he is a mandatory and the champion has no choice but to fight him. In the meantime, I would advise him to stay as active as possible until he gets his chance.

Nate Collins (British and Commonwealth featherweight champion)

I think Joe Joyce is up there with the best of them. His engine is unmatched up at heavyweight and his chin is indestructible. I think he would give the best of them a good fight! I think he would struggle with the speed and movement of Fury and Usyk but other than that I don’t see many people troubling him, with only Wilder’s power the possible exception.

Joe Gallagher (Trainer)

Joe Joyce is a great fighter but we’ve yet to see him in with the really big boys, like Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk. It would be interesting to see how he does with them. He should come through this fight at the weekend with little difficulty and then a good fight for him after that would be someone like Anthony Joshua. They have the GB history and that’s a good fight for them both. It would do really well in Britain.

Gareth A Davies (Journalist)

Joyce loses on points to Fury and Usyk; beats Wilder and Joshua by stoppage.
