Panel: How would a potential all-British light-heavyweight fight between Joshua Buatsi and Callum Smith play out?
Macthroom

Ryan Walsh (Former British featherweight champion)

I would love to see that fight. I have huge respect for both guys. I’d lean towards Callum due to his big fight experience, plus, like Buatsi, he was a fantastic amateur. Both have solid pedigree. It would make for a great a British dustup.

Mark Heffron (Current British super-middleweight champion)

A fight between Callum and Buatsi would be a great fight; one I would love to watch. I would have to go with Callum in that one. I think he’s technically the better fighter and has boxed at a much higher level than Buatsi.

Tunde Ajayi (Trainer)

I see it as 70/30 fight in favour of Smith. I can’t see the fight happening, though, as Smith has nothing to gain from beating Buatsi. They are at different stages in their careers.

John Fewkes (Former Central Area super-lightweight champion)

I think that would be a cracker. I know Buatsi has bags of amateur experience but I think the level Callum has been boxing at would give him the edge. Both are technically great kids but Smith has shown over the years he got lot more than technique and Buatsi has yet to really show it at Smith’s level. I wouldn’t put my house on it but I think it would be close and tricky for a few rounds before Smith got to him late on.
