Panel: Did you have Billy Joe Saunders ahead at the time of the stoppage against Canelo Alvarez?

Matthew Hatton
Fought Canelo

No I didn’t have Billy Joe up as the fight got stopped. Personally I had Canelo one round up, I thought Billy Joe was boxing really well, it was a great fight, the quality was tremendous. But no I had Alvarez one point up at the time of the stoppage.

Joe Gallagher
Leading trainer

I think I had it level or Canelo by one, in and around the time of the stoppage. I thought it was a close fight and Billy had success in some rounds. Canelo won his rounds and won them well. Billy Joe squeaked by in a few of them but still won them.

Natasha Jonas
World title challenger

I had them level at 4-4 at the time of the stoppage. But I wouldn’t have argued with it being scored 5-3 to Canelo Alvarez.

Chris McKenna
Sports journalist

No, I had it 6-2 to Canelo. I believe you could have had it 5-3 for Canelo too but I can’t see any more rounds than that for Saunders. Maybe people were overlooking the body shots of Canelo. It was all irrelevant anyway, as the fight was only going to go one way from round eight.
