This is the fight that will forever define Mullings’ career. Going into the bout with just one win in his last six contests, the Jamaica-born Brooklynite was a major underdog, but he upset the odds to stop Norris in nine rounds and claim the WBC super-welterweight title.

A Hall of Famer like Norris, Wright took on Mullings in what was the “Brooklyn Assassin’s” penultimate appearance. Wright was a comprehensive unanimous points winner. - JAVIER CASTILLEJO (JAN 1999)
Boxing on away turf in Castillejo’s Spanish backyard, Mullings lost his WBC belt on a majority vote. Castillejo would keep the title for two-and-a-half years before running into Oscar De La Hoya. - DAVID REID (AUG 1999)
In his next outing after facing Castillejo, Mullings challenged unbeaten WBA titlist and 1996 Olympic gold medallist Reid. Mullings was as game as ever but dropped a clear unanimous verdict. - RAUL MARQUEZ (SEP 1997)
Mullings pushed the undefeated Marquez extremely hard when challenging for the IBF strap. Marquez’s face was a bloody mess at the finish, yet he was awarded a contentious split decision. - DAVIDE CIARLANTE (MAR 1998)
Fresh off taking the WBC title from Norris, Mullings made his first defence against European champion Ciarlante, who had yet to taste defeat. The cut challenger was forced to retire after five rounds. - TONY MARSHALL (MAY 1997)
Prior to meeting Mullings, Marshall fought for the WBA belt and would later contest WBC honours. His unanimous points victory over Mullings marked the fourth fight in a row that Keith had failed to win. - STEVE ROBERTS (APR 2001)
Mullings travelled to the UK for his final bout, where he opposed unbeaten local Roberts. Mullings suffered a second-round stoppage reverse – his only ever inside-schedule setback. - DONALD STOKES (JUL 1997)
Following his loss to Marshall, Mullings secured a much-needed unanimous points win over Stokes, who boasted an eye-catching 39-1-1 ledger. - AARON MITCHELL (OCT 1993)
