Joe Gallagher EXCLUSIVE: I had it 115-113 either way

Trainer Joe Gallagher authors a Guest Column that focuses on his man Scott Quigg vs Carl Frampton in this week’s issue of Boxing News magazine. This is out now on our app and the print version is in stores on Thursday (March 3). Here is an excerpt.

LOOK, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the plan was never to attack early. Carl Frampton dropped Kiko Martinez early in their rematch, against Chris Avalos he counter-punched very, very hard. Why would we go out all guns blazing against a fighter who is a sharp puncher and has sharp feet early on? People have said we were too slow to engage, but we were working to a game plan, that was affected when Scott Quigg’s jaw got cracked. That was when we lost two rounds, and at the final bell I had it 115-113 either way.
