Does Shakur Stevenson have what it takes to become America’s next boxing superstar?
Shakur Stevenson is one of the brightest American boxers in the sport

Michael Conlan
Unbeaten pro

Yes. With his skillset Shakur will be a very hard man to beat for anyone. He’s not the biggest of punchers but he has enough power to hurt or at least gain respect. He showed another level of maturity on Saturday against Jamel Herring. I would like to see him fight Óscar Valdez next and would heavily favour him to win that also.

Andy Clarke
Boxing commentator

Yes, I think so. He’s a two-weight [belt-holder] at the age of 24, has personality and a ton of ability, so the world is potentially at his feet. The market around his weight is there for the taking by a fighter who insists on making the big fights happen. That could be him.

Wayne Alexander
Former European champion

Stevenson has all the attributes, and becoming a two-weight [belt-holder] within 17 fights is a good start. He made the Jamel Herring fight look a lot easier than many people thought it would be. He has the talk and showmanship and has backed it up so far. He’s hard to hit clean, too, meaning he could have a long career.

Jamie Moore
Top trainer

Yes, without a doubt. He’s got the ability and could be a star in the future. He’s only young and has got lots of time to improve, just so long as he has the right attitude and doesn’t get carried away with himself.
