Boxing News Readers’ Awards: Upset of the Year Number 2

CHAD DAWSON was at the wrong end of one of 2013’s Upsets of the Year when he was flattened by Adonis Stevenson. Although the former light-heavyweight champion managed to stay upright against Tommy Karpency, the setback was just as surprising.

Karpency had stumbled in previous ‘step up’ fights but he was in a determined mood, out-boxing a lacklustre Dawson for large periods of the October 4 10-rounder. ‘Bad Chad’ complained about the verdict in Karpency’s favour, but it was the right result, and your runner-up Upset of the Year.
