10 of the biggest fights at the O2

1. GEORGE GROVES vs JAMES DeGALE
Despite having had only 22 professional bouts between them at the time, the bitter grudge match between these two old amateur rivals was highly anticipated. Groves triumphed on a razor-thin verdict.

2. CARL FROCH vs MIKKEL KESSLER II
Three years after being outpointed by Kessler on away turf in Denmark, Froch welcomed him to the UK for a rematch. Once again it was fiercely contested, though on this occasion it was Froch who won on points.

3. GENNADY GOLOVKIN vs KELL BROOK
Golovkin brought his Big Drama Show to Britain to take on Brook, who had moved up two weight divisions to face his illustrious opponent. Brook had his moments in an exciting contest but was ultimately stopped.

4. TONY BELLEW vs DAVID HAYE I & II
Stepping up from cruiserweight to heavyweight, Bellew pulled off a pair of high-profile stoppage victories over Haye in the space of 14 months. The damaging defeats signalled the end of Haye’s time in the sport.

5. ANTHONY JOSHUA vs DILLIAN WHYTE
Like the Groves-DeGale fight, Joshua’s rivalry with Whyte was built on a previous clash from their amateur days. Joshua gained revenge for his loss in the unpaid ranks by halting his foe in their pro encounter.

6. ANTHONY JOSHUA vs CHARLES MARTIN
After getting the better of Whyte, Joshua went straight into an IBF heavyweight title tilt against Martin, who was making his first defence. Joshua’s coronation was complete when he blasted through Martin with ease.

7. DAVID HAYE vs ENZO MACCARINELLI
In a battle between two power-punching cruiserweight titlists, Haye made short work of Maccarinelli to unify the WBC and WBA belts with the WBO strap. This was Haye at his explosive best.

8. VASYL LOMACHENKO vs LUKE CAMPBELL
The spellbinding artistry of Lomachenko was on display for UK fight fans when he faced off against Campbell – a very accomplished boxer himself. Lomachenko’s outstanding skills led him to a points win.

9. JOSH TAYLOR vs REGIS PROGRAIS
With the World Boxing Super Series super-lightweight trophy up for grabs, Taylor and Prograis each enhanced their reputation in a pulsating, top-quality matchup. Taylor edged it on the scorecards.

10. CHRIS EUBANK JNR vs JAMES DeGALE
The longstanding war of words between these two outspoken Brits eventually led to a meeting in the ring. In what would be the final appearance of DeGale’s career, Eubank secured the bragging rights via decision.
