10 of the best London Olympians
  1. OLEKSANDR USYK
Gifted Ukrainian Usyk won a gold medal in the heavyweight category at the 2012 Olympic Games, before going on to earn undisputed status at cruiserweight as a professional. He is now targeting pro heavyweight glory.
  2. ERROL SPENCE JNR
After reaching the quarter-final stage at London 2012 as a welterweight, Spence has since cemented himself as a pro standout in the same division. A fight with his fellow American Terence Crawford is what the fans want.
  3. VASILIY LOMACHENKO
Another technical marvel from Ukraine, Lomachenko was the king of the lightweights at the 2012 Games. He has excelled from 126lbs through to 135lbs in the pro game, but was upset by Teofimo Lopez last time out.
  4. ANTHONY JOSHUA
Fighting at his home Olympics, big Brit Joshua memorably punched his path to the top of the super-heavyweight podium. Since turning over into the paid ranks, the heavyweight star has become one of the sport’s premier attractions.
  5. KATIE TAYLOR
A bona fide icon in women’s boxing, Irish idol Taylor claimed a first-place finish at the Olympics in 2012, participating in the lightweight bracket. She is the reigning undisputed champion at 135lbs in the pros.
  6. CLARESSA SHIELDS
Alongside Taylor, Shields is the leading name in the female sport, having secured the undisputed championship at 154lbs and 160lbs. The American boxed her way to middleweight gold in London nine years ago.
  7. JOSH TAYLOR
A GB teammate of Joshua in 2012, Taylor exited the lightweight tournament in the round of 16. As a pro, he has shone at super-lightweight, where he has the opportunity to clinch the undisputed title this weekend.
  8. ARTUR BETERBIEV
Fearsome Russian Beterbiev is currently leading the light-heavyweight pack. Competing as a heavyweight at the Games in 2012, he was eliminated by Usyk in the quarter-finals.
  9. OSCAR VALDEZ
Coming off a breakout victory over his Mexican countryman Miguel Berchelt, super-featherweight Valdez is riding high as a pro. He was a bantamweight Olympian in 2012, getting to the quarter-finals.
  10. JOSE RAMIREZ
Like Taylor, whom he fights on Saturday for super-lightweight supremacy, America’s Ramirez saw his 2012 Olympic dream come to an end in the last 16 of the lightweight competition.
