OHARA Davies returned to the ring with an eight-round points win over Mohamed Aliseni in Accra, Ghana. Competing on the โBattle of the Beastsโ card, co-promoted by Amir Khan, Davies was content to soak up the atmosphere and coast home by scores of 78-73 and 79-72 (twice).
Davies, 26-4 (18 KOs), had seemingly retired after his eighth-round stoppage loss to Adam Azim in 2024. The urge to return to action rarely goes away easily. Especially the opportunity to grace the ring in his parentsโ homeland.
Boxing behind a strong left jab, Ohara displayed patience throughout the eight rounds against a slippery switch-hitter opponent. Daviesโ safety-first approach was understandable given he had lost his last two outings by stoppage.
Davies dropped Aliseni in round three, landing a sweeping overhand right. The Tanzanian managed to see out the storm and upped the pace a little in the fifth, landing a rare one-two. He even picked up some love on the cards for his efforts. In reality, it was a one-sided affair with Davies in second gear at a push.
Before Daviesโ fight, the legendary Azumah Nelson was presented with a custom-made WBC belt for his services to the sport.
Elsewhere on the card, Theophilous Kpakpo Allotey recorded a unanimous decision victory over Daniel Gorsh to win the WBO Africa bantamweight title. The scores were 117-111 and a couple of 118-110 verdicts.
In the nominal main event, Andrew Tabiti knocked out Jacob Dickson in round four of a farcical encounter. Dickson could barely stay on his feet as he suffered loss number two. Tabiti won the WBC Africa Bridgerweight title for his troubles.
