TO the relief of the boxing world Nick Blackwell woke from an induced coma after being injured in his British title bout with Chris Eubank Jr. Blackwell took to Twitter on Monday to declare: “Just want too say a massive thank you for all the support and messages, means the world to me. I’m on the mend now so I’ve been very lucky.”

He confirmed he has no plans to try to box again himself, saying, “That’s me done. I can’t put my friends and family and self through that again but I’ll still be involved.”

Blackwell even had a moving message for Eubank Jr. “No hard feelings, we were both there doing a job and it was unfortunate for what happened but I hope you’re ok champ,” he said, even adding, “be good to see you, bro.”
