THE latest film in the Rocky series, Creed comes to the UK this month, featuring not only Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan but also Gabriel Rosado, Andre Ward and Tony Bellew.
Jordan, 28, plays Adonis, so of Apollo Creed who is trained by Rocky Balboa himself. Jordan’s portrayal was influenced by defensive specialist Pernell Whitaker.
“I just loved his style, the way he evaded punches,” says Jordan, who trained with Ward and trainer Virgil Hunter to prepare for the role. “I was surrounded with great boxing minds, and I was literally aspiring to try and pick up as much as I could from everybody while we were still trying to find out what kind of style Adonis was going to fight in and what kind of fighter he was going to be.
