MARTIN MURRAY knows exactly what it’s like to step up from middleweight to fight 168lbs to fight George Groves. In 2016 Murray lost a decision to the now WBA super-middleweight world champion. He will be an interested observer when Chris Eubank Jr fights Groves on February 17 in their World Boxing Super Series semi-final.

“I think it’s going to be a good fight. I’m really looking forward to it. And I don’t watch much boxing, except when I’m fighting. But I’m picking Groves points,” Murray said.

“I see him beating Eubank. Eubank’s got a good chin. But he’s not fought anybody with Groves’ power. He’s got a good engine and he works fighters over. But only if they are fighters who allow that to happen. I think Groves is that little bit more classy. He’s fought at a better level. I think he can just completely outbox him, keep him at bay. Just win the rounds that way. Like I said, Eubank’s got a good chin. He’s got a good engine. The fight’s interesting. Everybody knows Groves fades. When he fades, if Eubank’s still there, who knows what can happen? But I’m picking Groves on points.

“I’ve seen Eubank, he’s quite small, and obviously I’ve seen Groves. Groves is a big unit. I know Eubank’s pumped up a little bit but Groves is just naturally a bigger man. I think a big good ‘un, will always beat a good small ‘un.”
