What Tyson Fury must do to get a licence to box

There's a long way to go yet for Tyson Fury

John Dennen

9th November, 2017

THE clamour to see Tyson Fury return to a boxing ring grows increasingly loud. He needs to get himself fighting fit, as Anthony Joshua has pointed out in no uncertain terms.

Fury himself reckons he needs to lose about seven stone.

More crucially he needs to resolve his case with UK Anti-Doping after allegations that he failed a drug test.

Fury said on social media, “Addressing the so called positive test, I didn’t test positive. UKAD said I had elevated levels, hence no ban! I was told no case to answer to.”

Fury does not have licence to box while he waits for a hearing with the National Anti-Doping Panel, nor will he get one until he goes before that hearing.

Speaking to Boxing News, Robert Smith, the General Secretary of the British Boxing of Control said, “The situation hasn’t changed in that they’re waiting to confirm a date for the hearing to take place. I understand that’s either done or being done now. Once he has had a hearing we’ll be in a better position to know his position.

“He needs a date for a hearing. Nothing’s going to happen until he gets the hearing out the way.”
