PROMOTER Frank Warren has made it clear that he wants another 5v5 event against Eddie Hearn.
It’s been one year since the inaugural card which landed in Riyadh and saw Warren’s Queensberry team thrash Hearn’s Matchroom 10-0. Five fights and five wins from Nick Ball, Hamzah Sheeraz, Daniel Dubois, Willy Hutchinson and Zhilei Zhang gave Warren and his squad a night to remember.
Earlier this week a one-year anniversary card and cake was sent to Matchroom from Queensberry as a gentle reminder of what happened on June 1, 2024. And tomorrow night the two promotional outfits will go head-to-head at Portman Road when Fabio Wardley (Queensberry) and Justis Huni (Matchroom) duke it out for the vacant WBA Interim heavyweight strap.
Speaking to Boxing News Warren reiterated his desire for a rematch with Hearn.
“I’d like to do it again. Obviously, they want revenge. I’d love to do it again because it was a great night. Obviously, because we won but it was a great night of boxing. Great fights, competitive fights, and I enjoyed every moment. I enjoyed the buildup to it, enjoyed the fights, enjoyed the result and I’d love to do that again.”
Matchroom CEO Frank Smith told BN that talks are ongoing and there is a confidence that another 5v5 will take place.
Asked when he wanted it to happen, Warren answered emphatically: “I want to get it done this year.”
