Mariusz Wach survived seven rounds against Tyson Fury last Friday as ‘The Gypsy King’ looked to tee up his long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua, and now Wach has shared his thoughts on how Fury vs Joshua might play out.

In 2024, Wach was stopped inside two rounds by a 19-year-old Moses Itauma, so when he was confirmed as the opponent for two-time heavyweight world champion Fury, a similar outcome was anticipated in Pattaya, Thailand.

The 46-year-old proved to be more durable than expected though, lasting seven rounds until retiring in the corner and awarding a below-par Fury with his first stoppage win since 2022.

Yet, whilst Fury’s performance raised eyebrows, Joshua’s bout against Kristian Prenga the following night raised heart rates, as the Londoner was floored twice in a calamitous opening round before bouncing back and dispatching of Prenga in round two.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Wach looked ahead to Joshua and Fury’s potential scrap, which he labelled as a ’50/50’ affair.

“I was a sparring partner of Anthony Joshua’s and I think that it will be a very interesting fight. I think that it could be a 50/50.

“My opinion is that it will be a boxing fight for the number two in the world rankings. For me, number one is Usyk, so we are waiting to see who is the number two.”

Fury vs Joshua has been linked with Madison Square Garden in New York City in November, with further details regarding the event expected to be confirmed imminently. ‘AJ’s team continue to push for the fight to be in the UK.
