After announcing his comeback earlier this year, fight fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the return of pound-for-pound great Vasiliy Lomachenko.
Three-division world champion ‘Loma’ hung up the gloves in June 2025, one year on from knocking out George Kambosos to win the IBF lightweight world title. It meant the Ukrainian was giving up on his well-publicised dream of becoming an undisputed world champion, which took a major blow when he lost a controversial decision to Devin Haney for the lightweight throne back in 2023.
Less than a year later, the 38-year-old revealed that he is keen to return to action and fight in the super-featherweight division, where the undisputed crown could soon be within reach due to this month’s three-belt unification showdown between Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster.
News of Lomachenko’s hotly anticipated return had gone quiet until earlier this week, when manager Egis Klimas named reigning WBA (Super) 130lb world champion Anthony Cacace as the man with a target on his back, despite the Ulsterman’s scheduled December scrap with Nick Ball on home soil in Belfast.
Now, Boxing News can reveal that Lomachenko, 18-3 (12 KOs), is set to fight next month, headlining a Las Vegas card on Friday, November 20, according to a source close to the event. No news was provided as far as opponents are concerned, other than the fact that two names are currently in the running for the away corner.
Undefeated Filipino Charly Suarez has been linked to a clash with Lomachenko in recent months, and he would stick out as the frontrunner, whilst Russia’s WBA ‘World’ champion and mandatory challenger, Elnur Samedov, is an option that could provide Lomachenko with an easy route towards the victor of Cacace-Ball and therefore the full WBA belt.
On the undercard, Boxing News understands that WBC #10 heavyweight contender Andrii Novytskyi will fight for a second time this year, tasked with New Jersey’s Norman Neely, 17-1 (12 KOs), whilst Ukrainian light-heavyweight Daniel Lapin, 13-1 (5 KOs), could also make an appearance as he attempts to bounce back from a shock first career defeat back in May.
